Clear Skin Diet

Clear Skin Diet

In my ongoing search for Acne free clear skin I came across what I think is a totally true statement.

“The very best way to get clear skin for life, is to eat the right foods and allow your body to naturally cure itself from the inside out”.

Now if we think about that for a moment, what we eat and drink does effect many things in our bodies, for example too much red meat and other fatty foods has an effect on our cholesterol level too much alcohol may well give us liver problem and I am sure you could think of numerous other examples as I can, where what we eat effects our bodies.

So if we embark on a clear skin diet to help control acne I believe it will have a distinct benefit.

In the following short video’s from (dermlover1)  on you tube you will see a typical Breakfast and Dinner.

Clearly the before and after pictures are a bit misleading but you are what you eat so there is nothing to loose by devising your own clear skin diet.

The following video is more  professional but the message is the same and was uploaded by

I hope these video’s have given you food for thought and will help you improve the visual appearance of your skin.

Best Makeup for Acne

Acne at any age can be stressful but when you are young and just starting college or maybe your first job it can seriously effect your level of self confidence.

People who have never suffered with acne will not appreciate how difficult it can be and its totally different from getting a few spots.

Acne has nothing to do with your level of personal hygiene, it can appear on your back, shoulders and chest as well as your face andBest Makeup for Acne can sometimes be quite painful.

There are many products on the market that can help cover up your acne and probably the best makeupBest Makeup for Acne for acne is mineral makeup.

I found this article which I think will help.

Mineral Makeup for Skin Prone to Acne

When you have skin that is prone to acne, using makeup can be tricky. There are a lot of ingredients in most makeups that can irritate the skin, and for people already prone to skin problems, this can be a disaster. Fortunately, mass produced makeup with tons of fillers and other unnatural beautifying additives are not your only option. Mineral makeup cuts the preservatives that can seriously inflame your skin so you don’t exacerbate the problem.

When you have acne-prone skin, you make a lot of effort to make it go away. However, if you spend all day wearing thick makeup that clogs your pores, you compound the problem. A lot of makeups use ingredients that sink in and trap particles beneath them, not allowing your skin the room to breathe or cleanse itself. Worse still, the makeup itself has preservatives and oils that irritate sensitive skin, making oily skin worse and generally wreaking havoc on your skin, causing you to need more makeup to cover up the disaster area.

Your makeup is supposed to help you look better, not just hide the fact that it’s making you have damaged skin.

That’s where mineral makeup comes in. Because mineral makeup is made with—you guessed it—natural minerals, it doesn’t inflame the skin. By clinging to the natural moisture from your face, or the moisturizer that is recommended for a more even look, mineral makeup leaves your pores unclogged, avoiding the problems associated with preservative-filled makeup. In fact, mineral makeupis actually anti-inflammatory, so using it on irritated skin should actually help you. When you are looking at mineral-based makeup, make sure you check the ingredients list, though. Many companies have jumped on the mineral bandwagon only to add the preservatives back into the formula. Watch out for long lists of ingredients and avoid anything that has dyes or fragrances.

Skin that is prone to acne is sometimes hard to manage. Having to throw on extra layers to hide what the chemicals are doing to your skin only makes it worse. With mineral makeup, you can get coverage that won’t make your skin break out.

Does Drinking Water Help Acne?

Does Drinking Water Help Acne?

Does drinking water help acne? The short answer is, yes, it does.

Teenagers and adults who suffer from acne are always on the lookout for new or effective acne treatments with many opting for expensive treatments or prescription medication.  Whilst these may help, there is another, much cheaper, way to help improve acne which can be put to work immediately – drinking water.

It won’t cure your acne, but without doubt, whatever type of acne you suffer from, drinking plenty of water every day will help to improve the condition of your skin.

How Does Drinking Water Help Acne?

First off, it goes without saying that water has the ability to rehydrate pretty well everything, and that includes your skin.

Ask any beauty expert or skin specialist and they will tell you that nothing will help to improve the appearance of the skin more than keeping it well hydrated.

Whilst skin that is suffering from acne doesn’t always benefit from moisturizing lotions and creams applied on the outside, it always needs plenty of water to rehydrate it from the inside.

In addition to this, drinking water will help to flush the body through and remove toxins which can contribute to acne breakouts.  You should be aware though, that as the water you are drinking flushes your system out, the appearance of your acne may become worse, but this should only be temporary.

Water also helps to keep our digestive system healthy and this is a very important factor in helping to keep acne at bay.

I hope that helps to answer the question, how does drinking water help acne?

Does Drinking Water Help Acne and Are You Getting Enough?

Every day you lose water through breathing, perspiration, urine and bowel movements.  In order for your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming sufficient liquid and foods that contain water.

Does Drinking Water Help AcneHow much water you should drink every day is up for discussion, but on average, a healthy adult should aim for a daily intake of around eight glasses**.

Drinking too much water can actually be harmful, especially if it is drunk within a short period of time, so take care not to overdo it.

If you normally drink coffee, tea or soft drinks and the thought of drinking water doesn’t appeal to you, the easiest thing to do is to spread it over the course of the day by having a few sips here and there.  You’ll be surprised at how much easier this makes it.

** Please bear in mind that this is only a suggested quantity.  Your personal circumstances or lifestyle may indicate that you require a different daily amount of water – for example, if you play a lot of sports or have a very labor intensive job, you may need to drink more than the suggested amount to replenish yourself.  If you are in any doubt as to how much water you should be drinking for your particular circumstances, you should consult your Doctor or health care specialist who can advise you accordingly.

Drinking Water for Good Health

It’s important to mention the how crucial water is to not only skin care, but every aspect of our health.

Water plays an enormous part in helping to maintain our everyday health – without it, our internal and external organs would begin to suffer after a very short time, and over a longer period, they would fail completely.

Now that you know the benefits of drinking water, you can see why it’s so important to include it in your clear skin diet.

It’s such a simple thing to do, but so many of us fail to consume the recommended daily allowance of water.  It’s time to drink water for clear skin, because now you know that the answer to your question – does drinking water help acne? – is YES!

Acne Remedies

Acne Remedies

Acne RemediesI’ve tried more acne remedies than you can throw a stick at!

I’m in my 40′s now and I started with acne when I was in my teens.  Before I even got facial acne, I used to get breakouts at the tops of my arms – nowhere else, just there!

It wasn’t too severe to start off with, but it was bad enough to make me feel self-conscious about wearing anything that didn’t cover it.

As I approached my 20′s, my acne got worse and I started to get it on my face, back, chest and neck, so I needed to find some type of acne remedies.  This coincided with starting a very stressful job, which, I was told by my doctor, was probably a big contributing factor to my acne becoming worse.  (Mind you, even when I gave up the stressful job, the acne stayed with me, so go figure!)

Since then, I’ve suffered with acne on and off on a pretty regular basis, although now, it’s pretty much confined to my face.  To make it worse, I’ve got 3 sisters and a brother, none of whom have ever needed any acne remedies and I’ve never seen either of my parents with even so much as a pimple!

Acne Remedies to Treat Adult Acne

As I got older, I got more or less got used to dealing with my acne, but what I hated almost as much as the acne itself was the way it could make me feel, even after all those years.

Sometimes I’d get really mad that I let it bother me so much.

At my age, I felt that I should be able to deal with it, but sometimes, when I met new people, it was genuinely difficult to look them in the eye and to not literally squirm with embarrassment when I noticed someone staring at me when I was out.

I hated how much embarrassment and anxiety even a minor flare-up could cause.

People I know would say things like, “don’t let it get you down” and “it really doesn’t look all that bad”.  I knew they were only trying to be supportive, but of course, none of those people actually had acne!

And when I was younger, my acne was always so unpredictable.  You could bet that if I was praying for clear skin for an important occasion, I’d breakout as if by magic.

I remember once when I thought I had my acne pretty under control, buying a fantastic dress for a special family event and then not feeling confident enough to wear it because I got a fresh breakout of spots right at the top of my chest a couple of days before.  I ended up going to that party in a high-necked, long-sleeved little black dress!

Like I said, over the years, I’ve tried countless acne remedies ; creams, lotions, pills, scrubs, herbal tinctures, salt rubs, hydrogen peroxide, masks, poultices, heat treatments, steam treatments, diets and healing and if there are any other acne remedies I have tried those too.

Some have worked pretty well for a while, but then they’ve just seemed to stop working.  I don’t know why this should be, but it’s pretty demoralizing when it happens – you think you’ve found something that works and then …… it doesn’t.

In fact, a couple of the treatments made my skin worse than it was in the first place and looking back on that list now, I’m not surprised, but when you’re desperate, you’ll try pretty much anything!

I always said that if I ever found any acne remedies that worked really well, I’d put an ad in the papers!

Well, I have found a product that seems to be working really well for me and on reflection, rather than write to the papers, I thought I’d write about it on the internet.

Acne Remedies that Work

For the last eight months, I’ve been using a skincare range by a company called Zenmed, which has not only got my acne under control, but my scars are fading too!

The products I’ve been using are from the Zenmed Derma Cleanse System – they’re not the cheapest products on the market, but they’re certainly not the most expensive either.  As far as I’m concerned though, they’re worth every penny.  (Had I not been happy with the results, there’s a money-back guarantee, but thankfully, I never had to bother with that).

This is the longest I’ve ever used a product and it´s kept doing what I want it to do!

When I first started with it, I was a little apprehensive as there was some irritation and dryness for the first few days, but I just put it down to the products doing their stuff and anyway, it was nothing I couldn’t put up with.

I’m so glad I stayed with it.

After about ten days, I could see a noticeable difference in my skin.  The texture was smoother and the breakouts were less.  The greasy patches on my cheeks, chin and around my nose were almost gone and the scarring was becoming a little less noticeable.

By the end of the first month, people I saw every day were commenting on the improvement in my skin.  People who I hadn’t seen for a while were doing double-takes when they saw me again!

For the first time since I was a teenager, I had a complexion that didn’t look too bad in natural daylight and the scarring had faded considerably.

Eight months down the line and I’m even happier with the results now than I was then – if I hadn’t seen it for myself, I honestly wouldn’t have believed it.

I can’t tell you how amazing it is to be on the way to clear skin after all these years.  It actually brings me to tears sometimes – sounds crazy, but it’s true!

And I know it sounds vain, but I just can’t stop looking in the mirror!  I don’t even mind having my picture taken these days.  When my skin was bad, I’d avoid cameras like the plague.

People ask me if I’m going to stop using Zenmed products now that my skin is clear.

That’s something only a person who’d never had acne, or spent years looking for effective acne remedies, would say!
